I love lists & I love goals [like my yearly birthday goal list], and with graduation finally within sight [next Saturday!], I have been thinking a lot about what I am going to be doing with all of my extra time this summer. Here’s what I am thinking for my next few months:
1. Walk at least 1 mile per day with Amos & work up to running half. I have been using mapmyrun to track how far our walks around the neighborhood are, and it has been fun to see how quickly the miles add up… not to mention how good it is for both of us!
2. Explore new places in the Cities with my camera and/or Amos at least twice per month. Now that school is done, I have no excuse not to!
3. Cross as many #s off my birthday list as I can.
4. Clean/organize/downsize. I really want to dig deep into the closets & sort through stuff & get rid of what I can. I realized this week that we literally have boxes we never unpacked when we moved last July! Pretty sure we probably don’t need whatever is in there.
Do you have any simple goals for your summer?

Life has been pretty crazy with learning the ropes as a first time pup momma while also finishing up school. I have two more classes this week, one paper to write by next week, & my research presentation a week from today — and that’s it! But that isn’t exciting, so just look at this face instead:
Amos is seriously so sweet! He has been learning so fast. I cannot believe he’s only been a part of our family for a week – it feels like months already. Not that I wasn’t already looking forward to school being done, but he makes me even more excited to be done so that I can go on longer walks with him & have fun exploring the city.
This time of year always feels a little extra full of change, but I feel like everything is ending & beginning all at once. I am hoping things will be “back to normal” around here soon, so bear with me over the next couple weeks. Does your spring seem extra full this year, or is it just me?
Thank you so much to those who participated in my 6 Month Blogiversary Giveaway! I wish I could send you both a little love, but the lucky winner is…
Happy Monday! Check your email. :)
This is the face of someone who is no longer an intern [!!!]:
J & I have been talking about getting a pup for a long time, but with us both in school, the timing wasn’t quite right. With me finally being done with internship, we decided to check out a couple adoption events this weekend just to see if there was a pup for us out there. Turns out… there wasn’t. But I had this weird feeling [I think the technical term is Puppy Fever] that our day wasn’t over, and we decided to check out the Humane Society. So we drove way out of our way & pretty much fell in love at first sight with this guy:
He’s a 10 month old mutt [though they speculated that he is some sort of terrier, pit, lab mix], was so affectionate, not too hyper, not a barker… He is everything we have always talked about wanting in a dog, so we brought him home:
I’m not sure we could be happier or more in love with this sweet boy. I guess I will be getting in shape this summer, because this boy loves his walks & loves the part where I pretend I can jog even more. :) We were a little bit worried about the transition, but he is handling it like a champ. He was stinky & ridiculously greasy when we got him, so we gave him a bath almost right after bringing him home. He did so good & only needed a little coaxing. After a nice long walk, he passed out on my lap like this:
We felt so bad about the chaos of the day & having to give him a bath that we let him sleep wherever he wanted. Guess where he picked?:
I seriously cannot get over this guy! We are working on kennel training today & went on a nice long walk again tonight. I have a feeling he’s going to rock sleeping in the kennel tonight. :)
Hope your weekend was splendid!
Minnesota is kind of infamous for her bi-polar weather, but this spring has been exceptionally so. This past weekend was the first nice one of spring, so naturally J & spent the evening on the patio. I always get an intense craving for a good cigar when the weather finally turns. I don’t know how or why that ever started because I have never been a smoker. Still, there is something to be said for the first warm evening on the patio with a cigar in hand. It was kind of perfect:
