I have been practicing with my new lens whenever I get a chance. I have a few things coming up, so I kindly asked J to let me use him as a model to get a feel for how my new lens works with humans. He isn’t a big fan of being in front of the camera, but I was glad he let me use him as a test subject. Plus, I think he is kind of cute. :)
I am not sure if it is the lens or the practice, but I love that it is taking me less & less time to edit as time goes on:
No amount of practice will keep me from my love of black & white, though:
There is something about black & white that I think will always look classy & timeless.
The questions I have for this [discussion] are:
1. What is your take on black & white? Love it? Hate it?
2. Is it possible to over-do it? Will black & white ever go out of style?
3. How do you do black & white? Lightroom pre-sets? Another editing program?
I am excited to hear your thoughts!

[Discussion] is a regular feature where I introduce a photography-related topic for dialogue. This feature is meant to be interactive & truly, to start a conversation. I want to hear your two cents!
Funny you brought it up, my friend today just said to me how she misses to have a black and white photo shoot. That there is sth timeless about b&w photos. So the discussion must be in the stars atm. :) Anyhow, for me b&w is somehow calmer and more pure than color photography, especially when it comes to shooting people. I do believe b&w is timeless. However it doesn’t suit all photos, in some cases colors just work better. I use Lightroom to turn my photos b&w. I don’t use any of the pre-sets. I like to fiddle around with adjustment options myself. Though I must say b&w is harder than it seems at first. I also like to add a bit of split toning. That’s what I did here: http://reindeertrails.blogspot.com.es/2013/02/week-8-life-in-black-and-white.html. All in all I am looking forward to shooting some b&w film sooner or later, because somehow things do feel different on film: http://reindeertrails.blogspot.com.es/2013/02/black-and-white-life-in-summer-2007.html.

It is complicated, and I love how many options there are. It’s fun to experiment!
